A speclal meetlng of the City Council was called to order by ~ayor Swink
at 2:00 P.M.

Presented at this tlme for consideration was an amendment to the utility
tax ordinance and consideration of other lncreases In taxes, llcense or
permit fees. Mayor SWlnk acknowledged requests of the public to speak to
the matter before the Council. Terry Scharton and Davld Stephan spoke
ln opposition to an increase In taxes. After dlScussion, Councilmember
Trlves moved that the City Council will not entertaln an lncrease in any
tax prlor to the electlon date of June 6, 1978. Second by Councllmember
Scott. After discussion, >,Iayor Pro Tempore Cohen moved to amend the
motion to lncrease the hotel and motel bed tax by 3 percent. The motion
failed for lack of a second. Councllmember Trives' motlon was approved
by the fOllowlng vote:
Council Vote: Unanimously approved 7-0
At 2:25 P.M. by order of Mavor SWlnk, the Clty Councll convened to a
special jOlnt meetlng with the Redevelopment Agency.
