M., on Tuesday, June 5, 1984, In the Council Chambers, having been adJourned from May 29, 1984. Councilmember Zane led the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America. Roll Call: Present: Mayor Ken Edwards Mayor Pro Tempore Dolores M. Press Councllmember James P. Conn Councllmember Davld G. Epste1n Councilmember Chrlstine E. Reed Councllmember Dennls Zane C1ty Manager John H. Aslchuler, Jr. Clty Attorney Robert M. Myers Clty Clerk Ann M. Shore Absent: Councilmember William H. Jennings The following items were considered havlng been continued from May 29, 1984: 14-E: HOMELESS SHELTER/OCEAN PARK COMMUNITY CENTER: Presented was the request of Councllmember Conn to d1SCUSS the deflcit in Homeless Shelter funding. (Mayor Edwards departed the Chamber due to a stated confl1ct of interest 1n regard to the matter). The staff report was presented which recommended allocat1on of 1983-84 General Funds to the Turnlng Point Homeless Shelter Project. Discuss10n wash held. CouncllmemberCor:n moved to approve the staff recommendation thereby a-wardi-ng $10,000' In General Funds to the Ocean Park Community Center's Homeless Shelter Project (Turnlng Point) and approving related approprlation transfer act1ons. Second by Councllmember Epstein. The motlon was approved by the followwg vote: Council Vote: Unanlmously approved 5-0 Absent: Councilmembers Jennlngs and Edwards (Mayor Edwards returned to the dias.) 7-Ai COMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN/1984-85 FISCAL YEAR: A PubllC Hearlng was held regarcflng the 1984-85 Fiscal Year Communlty Development Plan, such hearing havlng been opened on May 29, 1984, and continued to thlS meeting. The following members of the public spoke in regard to the matter: In support of funding for the PICO Nelghborhood: Laurie Schick, CeCe Bradley, John Silber, Doris June 5, 1984 23 Ganga, Bob Scott, OrItha Jackson, Russ LatImer, Nellie ChaIdez, Effrin Gonzales, Rudy Alverez, Bill Mueller and Dr. Al Quinn. Nancy Rosser and Betsy Myer spoke in support of funding for Project Heavy West. Sheri BItler spoke in support of funding for the Love Me Infant Care Center. There being no other members of the public wishing to speak to the mattr, the PublIC HearIng was declared closed at 9:15 P.M. ADJOURNMENT: At 9:15 P.M., Councilmember Epst~in moved to adjourn the meeting in memory of L . Earle Dearth, Florabelle Cornelia Dryer, Jane Louise Reyes and Betty J. Thompson.
