DiscussIOn I was held CouncIlmember Greenberg moved to adopt Resolutlon No 8702 (CCS) entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA URGING THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO GRANT LOCAL GOVERNMENTS THE AUTHORITY TO REGULATE THE USE AND SALE OF FIREARMS WITHIN THEIR JURISDICTIONS AND FOR THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO ITSELF ENACT LAWS WHICH PROHIBIT EASY ACCESS TO FIREARMS AND TO TAKE STEPS TO STEM THE EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR STATE," readmg by title only and WalVIng further readmg thereof, and drrect staff to report back to Council on the number of gun dealers located wltlnn the City of Santa MOllica and whether the CIty'S zOlling laws cover these partIcular dealers.
