A special meetlng of the Clty Council was called to order by Mayor
Bambrick at 6: 30 P .1>1.

Councllmember Reed moved to adjourn to an executlve session to conslder
options in regard to alrport litlgation. Second by ~ayor Pro Tempore
Yannatta Goldway.
Council Vote: Unanlffiously approved 5-0
Absent Councilmembers Rhoden and van den Steenhoven
The Council reconvened at 7:30 P.:l. wlth all members of the Council
present.
Councilmember Jennings moved to direct the City Attorney to prepare an
appropriate letter to go to the lessees at the airport that would say
that the City has existing ordlnances concerning scheduled and non-
scheduled alr carriers which require people doing such things to get eJllJress
approval from the City before they do lt and enter into a contract with
the City concernlng such services and that it is the POllCY of this City
Council that such ordinances must be compIled with. The letter should
also remind the lessees that their tenancies, those that are on month-to-
month tenancies, last only for 30 days following the payment of their
rent and that, as the lessors, the Councll is, if necessary, amending
the terms of the airport lessees'month~to-month rental agreements to
speciflcally assert or reassert, if necessary, the Clty'S right under the
existing City ordinances to requlre lessees to get City approval before
conducting any scheduled or non-scheduled air carrier serVlce. Second
by Councllmember Scott.

Councilmember Reed moved to authorize the City Attorney to prepare a
report and an ordinance maklng certain that the definitlons in the City
alrport regulations and ordlnances are standard with federal regulations
and further authorizing the attorney to prepare a report with certaln
lease amendments for the 30 day tenancies at the Santa ~onica Airport.
Second by Councllmember Jennings.
Council Vote: Unanimously approved 7-0
Mayor Pro Tempore Yannatta Goldway moved to adopt Resolutlon No. 5450(CCS
enti tled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SA~TA Y!ONICA
AUTHORIZI~G A~D DIRECTING THE CITY PERSONXEL TO NOTIFY OUR APPROPRIATE
REPRESENTATIVES IN WASHINGTON AND CALIFORNIA OF THE IMPORTA~CE OF THE
AIRPORT LITIGATION TO LOCAL PROPRIETORS OF THE AIRPORT AND ENLISTING THE
SUPPORT OF THE FEDERAL AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN RELATIONSHIP THERETO".
