COUNCIL APPOINTMENT: Mayor Reei announced that thIS was a
spec ially-called meeting to cons i ier and make an appo intment to
fill a vacant CounCIl seat to reolace former Mayor and
Councilmember Ken E1wards who is now deceased. DISCUSSIon was
held. Councilmember Katz nominated Alan S. Katz. Second by
Councilmember Epstein. DIScussion was held. Hearing nO' other
nomin atioDs, nominations were closed. Counc Ilmember Zane moved
to continue thIS Item to the agenda of October 22,1985. The
motion to contInue failed for lack of a second. The vote on the
nomination was as follows:

who was then seated as a Councllmember.
ADJOURNMEN~: At 8:01 P.M., Councilmember Jennin6s moved to
a1Jcurn the meetIng, aiJournment to be in-memory of Leon
Kllnghoffer, slain victim of the AchIlle Lauro (ItalIan cruise
ship) hiJacking. The motIon was duly seconded an':! approved by
unanImous vote.
