A RBSOLUTION OP THB CITY COUNCIL OF THB
CITY OP SANTA XONleA
APPROVING All APPLlCATIOB TO THB DEPARTKBNT OF
PARKS AND RBCREATION OF THB STATB OF CALIFORNIA
POR MATCHING FONDS ONDER THB NATIONAL HISTORIC
PRESERVATION GRANTS-IN-AID PROGRAK
WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has authorized
under Public Law 89-665 the establishment of the National Historic
Preservation Grants-in-Aid Program (hereinafter, "NHP Grants
Program"), providing matching funds to the State of California and
its eligible subdivisions for historic preservation survey,
registration, and planning; and
WHEREAS, under Federal law the Department of Parks and
Recreation of the State of California (hereinafter I "the State
Department of Parks and Recreation") is responsible for the
administration of the NHP Grants Program within the State and for
establishing regulations and procedures governing applications by
local governments for local historic preservation programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is a certified Local
Government under the regulations and procedures established by the

state Department of Parks and Recreation and is eligible to apply
for and receive an NHP Grant for local historic preservation
programs; and
WHEREAS, the regulations and procedures established by
the state Department of Parks and Recreation require Certified
Local Government applicants for a NHP Grant to approve by
resolution any applications for matching funds and to certify the
availability of local matching funds prior to applying for a Grant;
and
WHEREAS, on February 14, 1994, the Landmarks Commission
of the City of Santa Monica recommended to the City council
approval of an NHP Grant for the Historic Resources Inventory
Update project;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. To approve the filing of an application for
a National Historic preservation grant for the Historic Resources
Inventory update project; and
SECTION 2. To appoint the Director of the Land Use and
Transportation Management Department, or her authorized deputy, as
the agent to coordinate, process, and execute all contracts,
agreements, amendments and ancillary documents associated with the

National Historic Preservation Grant application.
SECTION 3. To agree that all required local matching
funds are available and shall be provided for the Historic
Resources Inventory Update Project.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
