RESOLUTION NO. 8731

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING THE APPLICATION
FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
REGIONAL PARK AND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT SPECIFIED PROJECT
GRANT PROGRAM FOR SANTA MONICA BEACHES
WHEREAS, the people of the County of Los Angeles on
November 3, 1992, enacted Los Angeles County Propositlon A, Safe
and Neighborhood Parks, Gang Prevention, Tree Planting, Senior and
Youth
Recreation,
Beaches
and
Wildlife
Protection
(the
Proposition), which provide funds to the county of Los Angeles and
other public agencies in the County for the purposes of acquiring
and/or developing facilities for public recreational facilities and
open space; and
WHEREAS, the Proposition also created the County of Los
Angeles Regional Park and Open Space Dlstrict (the District) to
administer said funds; and
WHEREAS, the District has set forth the necessary procedures
governing local agency applications for grant funds under the
Proposition; and
WHEREAS, the Distrlct's procedures require the Applicant to
certify, by resolution, the approval of the application before
submission of said application to the District; and
WHEREAS, said application contains assurances that the
Applicant must comply with; and

WHEREAS, the Applicant will enter into an Agreement with the
District to provide funds for acquisition or development of the
Project:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL HEREBY:
1. Approves the f1ling of an application with the County of
Los Angeles Regional Park and Open Space District for
funds under Section 8, Paragraph B, Part 2 of Proposition
A for the above Project; and
2. Certifies that sald Applicant understands the assurances
and certificatlon in the application form; and
3. Certifies that said Applicant has, or will have,
sufficient funds to operate and maintain the Project in
perpetuity; and
4. Appoints the City Manager as agent of City of Santa
Monica to conduct all negotiations, and to execute and
submit all documents includ1ng, but not limited to,
applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests
and so forth, which may be necessary for the completion
of the aforementloned ProJect.
