A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA
MODIFYING PLANNING, ZONING, AND LAND USE FEES
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monlca has a long-standlng commitment
to support the provlsion of chlld care and has adopted the Santa Monlca
Chlld Care Master plan and Child Care Policy through Resolution Number
8342 (CCS); and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monlca has taken further action to
create supportive land use and housing policies and permlt procedures
that encourage the development of quality Chlld care; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has revised and streamllned the Zonlng
Ordinance relating to large famlly day care homes and child care
centers ln residentlal distrlcts in the Clty of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, the Clty of Santa Monlca wishes to remove any unnecessary
obstacles to the development of Chlld care centers, and
WHEREAS, Munlcipal Code Section 9 04.20.20.050 authorlzes the
setting of plannlng, zonlng, and land use fees by resolution of the
Clty Council; and
WHEREAS, the Clty Councll has adopted Resolutlon Number 7607

(CCS) , Resolut1on Number 8082 (CCS) , and Resolut1on Number 8384 (CCS)
sett1ng planning, zon1ng and land use fees; and
WHEREAS, 1t 1S necessary to amend these fees with respect to child
care centers 1n order to encourage the development of such centers in
the C1ty,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ch~ld care centers shall be exempt from the fees
establ1shed by Resolution Number 7607 (CCS), Resolut1on Number 8082
(CCS) , and Resolution Number 8384 (CCS).
SECTION 2. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be 1n full
force and effect.
