RESOLUTION NO. 8677

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA ORDERING THE VACATION OF A PORTION OF A CERTAIN
STREET KNOWN AS SEVENTH COURT BETWEEN BROADWAY AND 250
FEET SOUTHEASTERLY OF BROADWAY AND DEDICATION OF TWO
PUBLIC SERVICE EASEMENTS IN THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA,
CALIFORNIA
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica
having heard the evidence offered in relation to the proposed
vacation of all of that portion of Seventh Court between Broadway
and 250 feet southeasterly of Broadway described as follows: A
rectangular strip of land, 20 feet in width, known as Seventh
Court, and shown on the alley between Lincoln Boulevard and Seventh
Street; extending from Broadway to 250 feet southeasterly of
Broadway on the Map of the Town of Santa Monica, in the city of
Santa Monica, County of Los Angeles, State of Californla, recorded
in Book 39, pages 45 through 51, of Miscellaneous Records, said
strip being bounded to the northeast by Lots A, B, C, D, and E of
Block 192, of sald map, hereby finds from all of the evidence
submitted that the portlon of the street above referred to and
proposed to be vacated by Resolut~on No. 8663(CCS) ~s unnecessary
for present or prospective publlC use purposes and is consistent
with General Plan of the c~ty of Santa Monlca. Map No. 4370
entitled "Proposed Alley Vacation for Seventh Court from Broadway
to 250 feet south of Broadway and proposed 20-foot alley dedication
from Seventh street to Seventh Court," Revised October 4, 1993, lS
hereby attached and incorporated into this Resolution.
SECTION 2. In addi t~on, the property owner, h~s or her heirs,
assignees, or successors of any klnd whatsoever; ~n consideration
of the aforementioned vacation, shall dedicate in perpetuity to the
City of Santa Monica, an easement for purposes of street and

utility r~ght-of-way from Seventh Street to Seventh Court descr~bed
as follows: that strip of land, 20 feet in w~dth, in Block 192 of
said map described above bounded to the southeast by the following
described line beginning at a point along the northeasterly line of
Lot R of said block, distant 28 feet from the most northerly corner
of said lot: thence, southwesterly 85.41 feet along a Ilne that is
parallel with and 28 feet southeasterly from the northwesterly line
of said lot to an angle point thereof; thence, southwesterly 35.54
feet in straight line to the northeasterly terminus of a line that
is parallel with and 21 feet northeasterly from the southeasterly
line of said lotI said line having a length of 29.44 feet; and also
that triangular portion of land defined by a point of beg~nning
being the easternmost corner of sald strip of land defined above;
thence, proceeding 20 feet southeasterly along the southeasterly
prolongation of the northeasterly llne of sa~d strip to the True
Point of Beginning; thence, proceeding northwesterly 20 feet along
said southeasterly prolongation: thence, proceeding southwesterly
20 feet along southeasterly line of said strip, then proceeding in
a straight line to the True Point of Beginning.
SECTION 3. Seventh Court between Broadway and 250 feet
southeasterly of Broadway as shown on the above-reference Map No.
4370, revised October 4, 1993, is hereby vacated.
SECTION 4. The c~ty Council hereby reserves an easement for
utility purposes over, across and under that portion of the alley
to be vacated.
SECTION 5. Pursuant to streets and Highways Code Section
83251, the City Clerk shall also cause a copy of this Resolution to
be recorded in the Office of the County Recorder of the County of
Los Angeles. Upon such recording, the vacation shall be complete.
