R-8664 . e CCS:AM.reso10ka:admln Councll Meeting: September 28, 1993 Santa Monlca, Callfornla RESOLUTION NO. 8664 (CITY COUNCIL SERIES) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A RUNNING RACE ON OCTOBER 2, 1993, ON A ROUTE OTHER THAN THE OFFICIAL CITY ROUTES AND REDUCING THE FEE FOR THAT RACE WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 3 of Resolution Number 7011 (CCS) , the Clty Council may authorize a race route d~fferent from the official Clty race routes set forth thereln, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS' SECTION 1. That on October 2, 1993, between the hours of 7.30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m , participants in the St. Monica's 5 and 10K Run may and are hereby authorized to conduct a running race along the followlng route: Start on Washlngton Avenue at Llncoln Boulevard proceeding east on Washington Avenue to Sixteenth Street, north on Sixteenth Street to Alta Avenue, east on Alta Avenue to Twenty-sixth Street, north on Twenty-sixth Street to Marguer~ta Avenue, west on Marguerita Avenue to Ninth Street, south on Ninth Street to Wllshire Boulevard, west on Wllshire Boulevard to Flfth Street, south on Flfth Street to Broadway, west on Broadway to Ocean Avenue, north on Ocean Avenue (west - 1 - . e side of street) to Marguerlta Avenue, east on Marguerita Avenue to Fourth Street, south on Fourth Street to Washlngton Avenue, and east on Washington Avenue to the flnlsh line (between Seventh Street and Llncoln Boulevard) . SECTION 2. Permlssion to conduct the running race lS granted upon the followlng condltlons: A. St. Monica's will pay for and post all signage along the race route after approval by the City. B. St. Monica's will notify all residents one block east, west, north and south, as well as along the race route, of the event and of alternate traffic routes, by first class malling, after approval of the notification letter by City. C The Santa Monlca Police Department wlll provide the necessary number of Police Offlcers for crowd and traffic control along the race route and the actual cost will be pald by St. Monica's. D. The Community and Cultural Services Department wlll provide staff to asslst with race set up and the actual cost of those services will be pald by St. Monica's. E. All barricades and cone rentals for marking the course wlll be paid for by St. Monica's - 2 - . . F. St. Monica's shall provlde a certlflcate of lnsurance for One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) per lndlvldual incident, namlng the City of Santa Monica, its Clty Councll, boards and commlSSlons as additlonal lnsureds. G. St Monlca's will clean up and remove all slgnage along route after the race. H. St Monlca's will pay a Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollar ($2,500) race fee. SECTION 3 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of thls Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
