A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR FUNDS FOR THE TRANSPORTATION
ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES PROGRAM UNDER THE INTERMODAL SURFACE
TRANSPORTATION EFFICIENCY ACT OF 1991
FOR THE SANTA MONICA GATEWAY AND COASTAL CORRIDOR
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - PHASE I
WHEREAS, the united States Congress has enacted the
Intermodal Surface Transportation Efflclency Act of 19911 which
is to make avallab1e over $200 ml11ion in federal dollars over a
6-year period as funds to the Californla Department of
Transportation for transportation enhancement activities; and
WHEREAS, the Ca11forn1a Department of Transportation has
established the procedures and crlterla for revlewing proposals
and, along with the Regional Transportation Agencies, will suhmlt
to the Californla Transportatlon commission a Ilst of recommended
proJects from which the recipients wlll be selected: and
WHEREAS, said procedures and criterla established by the
California Department of Transportation call for the approval of
an application by the appllcant' s governing body before
sUbmission of said application to the california Transportation
COMmlssion; and
WHEREAS, the applicatlon contains assurances that the
applicant must comply wlth; and
WHEREASt the applicant, if selected, will enter lnto an
agreement wlth the state of California to carry out the
transportatlon enhancement activities proJect;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1.
The Cl ty Council approves the flllng of an
application for the Santa Monica Gateway and Coastal Corridor
Improvement Project
Phase I ,
under
the Transportatlon
Enhancement Activities Program for conslderation for fundlng.
SECTION 2.
The City will provide $117,800 in non-Federal
funds for thlS project.
SECTION 3.
The City wlll make adequate provisions for
operatlon and maintenance of the proJect.
SECTION 4. The City Manager of the city of Santa Monlca is
authorlzed to
act
as
the Clty'S
agent to
conduct all
negotiatlons, execute and submlt all documents, lncluding but not
limited to the application, agreements, amendments, payment
requests and so on, WhlCh may be necessary for the completlon of
the aforementioned proJect.
SECTION 5. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of
thlS resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
