RESOLUTION NO. 8506{CCS)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO APPLY FOR PROPOSITION 116 CLEAN AIR
AND TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT ACT BICYCLE FUNDS
WHEREAS, Proposition 116, The Clean Alr and Transportation
Improvement Act, makes available $20 million to fund bicycle
improvement projects for bicycle co~~utersi and
WHEREAS, the city of Santa Monica desires to utilize these
funds for the addition of a Class II bicycle lane on Broadway from
Lincoln to 26th street under the guidelines of the Clean Air and
Transportation Improvement Act if the Bicycle Master Plan and
Environmental Impact Report are adopted by the council,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager / or his or her designee, is
authorized to apply for Clean Air and Transportation Improvement
Act funds in conformance with the guidelines set forth for the use
of the funds to add a Class II bicycle lane on Broadway from
Lincoln to 26th Street.

SECTION 2. The city Manager, or his or her designee, is
authorized to certify the city of Santa Monica's compliance with
the screening criteria to be eligible for the Clean Air and
Transportation Improvement Act funds.
SECTION 3. The ci ty Manager, or his or her designee, is
authorized to be the city's authorized signatory.
SECTION 4. No other capital funds previously programmed,
planned, or approved for bicycle projects will be used for other
purposes.
SECTION 5.
New development fees, taxes or exactions, or
permit fees have not and will not be included in the operating
budgets for this project.
SECTION 6. No other state funding sources will be used to
complete this project if costs exceed those identified in the
approved application.
SECTION 7. The city of Santa Monica has the financial and
institutional ability to accept the legal liabilities associated
with this project.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this ReSOlution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
