A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO SUBMIT AND EXECUTE A HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS
WASTE GRANT PROGRAM APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA
INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica recognizes that it is in
the public interest to enact and implement an integrated waste
management plan to address the state's diminishing landfill space
and the potential adverse environmental impacts from landfilling;
and
WHEREAS, funds have been established by Assembly Bill 2448
(Eastin, 1987), and are available from the Solid Waste Disposal
site Cleanup and Maintenance Account in the General Fund through
the California Integrated Waste Management Board for grants to
local governments to establish and implement waste diversion and
separation programs to prevent disposal of hazardous waste,
including household hazardous waste in solid waste landfills,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica authorizes
the submittal of an application to the California Integrated
Waste Management Board for a Household Hazardous Waste grant.
The city Manager of the City of Santa Monica is hereby authorized
and empowered to execute in the name of the city of Santa Monica

all necessary applications, contracts, and agreements and
amendments hereto for the purposes of securing grant funds and to
implement and carry out the purposes specified in this
application.
2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in
full force and effect.
