RESOLUTION NO. 8447 (CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR
BICYCLE AND/OR PEDESTRIAN FUNDS UNDER SB821 AND APPROVING THE
INSTALLATION OF PUBLIC BICYCLE STORAGE RACKS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS
IN THE CITY
WHEREAS, SB821 provides that 2% of each county's total
local transportation fund be set aside annually and used to fund
the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and
WHEREAS, the city of santa Monica was eligible to
receive $21,898 of the total moneys available for FY1991-1992 ~
and
WHEREAS, the Cl ty of Santa Monica desires to install
bicycle parking racks and locks at various public locations in
the city, including office and commercial areas and public parks,
using the funds available under SB821,
NOW, THEREFORE, the city Council of the City of Santa
Monica does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. The City of Santa Monica will install public
bicycle racks and locks in various locations within the City,
including office and commercial areas and public parks. These
bicycle facilities will be available and open for use by the
public 24 hours each day.

SECTION 2. The city Manager is authorized to act on the
City's behalf and to apply for and receive funds pursuant to
SB821.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of
this Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
