A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AMENDING THE NOISE ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL PLAN

requlres that each local Jurlsdlctloh adopt a Noise Element as
part of the General Plan which shall ldentify and appralse noise
problems ln the communlty; and,
WHEREAS, Santa Monica's existing Noise Element was adopted
by the Clty Council ln 1975i and,
WHEREAS, on December 12, 1988, a public workshop was held to
identlfy nOlse issues and concerns in the CltYi and,
WHEREAS, from September 20, 1989 to October 20, 1989, the
draft NOlse Elenent was Qade available for publlC revlew; and,
WHEREAS, on November 29, 1989, the Plannlng Commission
conducted a publlC hearing on the draft Noise Element; and,
~\HEREAS, the Draft NOlse Element analyzes and quantlf ies
nOlse levels and the extent of noise exposure in the communlty
and establlshes policles and programs to minlTI1Ze the exposure of
connunlty resldents to excesslve noisei and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the proJect wlll have
no substantlal adverse impact on the environment and a Negative
Declaration has been prepared,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The document entitled Noise Element attached
hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated hereln by thlS reference is
hereby adopted and certlfled as the official Noise Element of the
General Plan for the Clty of Santa Monica and thus replaces the
Noise Element adopted in 1975.

that
the
envlronmental reVlew for the project was conducted ln full
compllance with state and Clty CEQA GUldelines.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
thls Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
