A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
APPROVING THE CITY'S APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
INTO THE CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Congress under Public Law 89-665 has authorized
the establishment of a Certified Local Government Historic
Preservation program; and
WHEREAS, the state Department of Parks and Recreation is
responsible for the administration of the program within the
state, setting up necessary rules and procedures governing
application by local agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said adopted procedures established by the State
Department of Parks and Recreation require the applicant to
certify by resolution the approval of applications prior to
submission of said applications to the state; and
WHEREAS, participation in the Certified Local Government
program will make the City of Santa Monica eligible to apply to
the state for a share of the state's annual Historic Preservation
Fund allocation, will allow the city to participate in the
National Register nomination review process, and will permit the
City to review building rehabilitation plans for investment tax

credits as well as to participate in the environmental review of
projects having federal involvement; and
WHEREAS, at the December 1991 Landmarks Commission meeting
the Commission unanimously voted to endorse the city's efforts to
obtain certified Local Government status,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 .
The city Council approves filing of an
application
for certification under the
Certified
Local
Government Program.
SECTION 2. The City Council appoints the City Manager or
his or her authorized deputy as agent of the City to coordinate,
process and execute all contracts, agreements, amendments, and
ancillary documents within the scope of the application for
certification.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
