A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SAN~A MONICA TO WAIVE
CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS, AND
ADMINISTRATIVE PLANNING FEES FOR
DESIGNATED LANDMARKS AND CONTRIBUTING STRUCTURES
WITHIN DESIGNATED HISTORIC DISTRICTS
WHEREAS, on September 25, 1990 the city Council directed
staff to amend the Santa Monica Municipal Code to waive
certificate of Appropriateness, and administrative planning fees
for designated landmarks and contributing structures within
designated historic districts: and
WHEREAS, it was determined that the elimination of these
permit fees was an appropriate incentive in exchange for the
preservation of historic structures that contribute to the city's
cultural heritage: and
WHEREAS, on July 23, 1991 the city Council adopted Ordinance
Number 1590 (eCS) amending Chapter 6 of Article IX of the Santa
Monica Municipal Code relating to Landmarks and Historic
Districts
to
waive
Certificate
of
Appropriateness,
and
administrative planning fees for designated landmark structures
and contributing structures within designated historic districts;
and

WHEREAS, Municipal Code section 9210 authorizes the setting
of fees by resolution,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Pursuant to Hunicipal Code Section 9210 the
following fees are waived:
All planning fees for
ADMINISTRATIVE PLANNING FEES:
Administrative Approval
applications
shall be waived
for
designated landmark structures and structures identified as
contributing to designated historic districts.
CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FEES:
All certificate of
Appropriateness
fees
for any al teration,
restoration,
or
construction, in whole or in part, to a designated landmark or to
structures identified as contributing to a designated historic
district shall be waived.
SECTION 2. The fees waived as set forth in this Resolution
shall be effective thirty (30) days from the date of City Council
adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same be in
full force and effect.
