A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
EXTENDING THE TIME PERIOD FOR EXERCISING A
CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATNESS PERMITING THE
REDMODEL AND RENOVATION OF THE BILLIARD BUILDING
LOCATED AT 250-256-258 SANTA MONICA PIER
HHEREAS, a Certificate of Appropriateness application was
filed requesting the remodel and renovation of the existing
Billiard Building on the Santa Monica Pier on February 15, 1990;
WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission, following a public
hearing, conceptually approved the requested Certificate of
Appropriateness on March 8, 1990:
WHEREAS, the Landmarks commission, following a public
hearing, issued a final approval for the requested Certificate of
Appropriateness on August 9, 1990;
HHEREAS, the City Council approved Resolution 8163 (CCS)
granting
a
180
day
extension
for this
Certificate
of
Appropriateness on January 22, 1991;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Santa Monica r1unicipal Code Section
96121, this Certificate of Appropriateness shall expire if the
work authorized in not commenced within 180 days of the
extension;

WHEREAS, this certificate of Appropriateness shall exp~re on
August 4, 1991 unless otherwise extended;
WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission has recoInIneded that the
City Council adopt a resolution extending this certificate of
Appropriatness for the maximum permitted 180 days.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The city Council has reviewed the Landmarks
Commission's recommedation and extends this certificate of
Appropriateness permit for an additional 180 days.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
