A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING
POLICE DEPARTMENT FEES
\-lHEREAS, the Cl ty of Santa Honlca recently completed a
comprehens~ve analysls of all user fees charged by the Police
Department; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that the current user fees
charged by the Police Department do not reflect the full costs
lTIcurred in the provislon of the related services; and
WHEREAS, lt lS the policy of the city of Santa Monica to
charge for the full cost of serVlces provlded by Clty staff when
such serVlces beneflt indivldual users rather than members of the
community as a whole,
NOH, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The followlng fees are established:
VEHICLE IMPOUND:
To complete vehicle lmpound releases, a
fee of Twenty Dollars ($20.00). No such fee shall be charged to
the owner of any vehlcle that was lmpounded as the recovery of a
stolen vehicle.
FINGERPRINTS
FOR
POLICE
PERMIT
APPLICATIONS:
For
f~ngerpr~nts and processlng performed by the Pollce Department

which are requlred for all Police Permits, a fee of Fifty Dollars
($50.00) .
RECORDS REVI EW :
For review of Pollee Department incident
reports and other records by governmental agencies, excluding law
enforcement agencies, a fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00).
COMMUNICATIONS TAPES:
For administrative processing of
requests
for
informat~on
contained
on
Police
Department
Communications Center tapes, a fee of sixteen Dollars ($16.00)
per hour.
A deposlt of sixteen Dollars ($16.00) is required
before any admlnlstratlve work shall
be performed.
Any
additional costs incurred ~n the preparation of ~nformatlon as
requested will be bllled to the party filing the civil subpoena.
PaYI:'lent shall be due within thirty (30) days of receipt of a
bill.
ThlS fee shall not be required when the serVlce lS
requested in connectlon with any cr~m~nal proceeding.
SECTION 2.
No applicatlons shall be filed or processed
untll the fee has been pald as provided for in this Resolution,
unless otherWlse stated.
SECTION 3. Resolut~on Number 7675 (CCS) is repealed.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
1n full force and effect.
