RESOLUTION NO. 7461(CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA ELECTING TO BE SUBJECT TO
PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' MEDICAL AND HOSPITAL CARE ACT
ONLY WITH RESPECT TO MEMBERS OF THE
SANTA MONICA POLICE OFFICERS I ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 22850.3 provides that a
contracting agency may elect upon proper application to
participate under the Public Employees' Medical and Hospital Care
Act ("Acttl) with respect to a recognized employee organization
only; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica (tlCity") is a local
agency contracting with the Public Employees' Retirement System;
and
WHEREAS, the Santa Monica Police Officers' Association
("SMPOAtI) has been recognized by the City as an employee
organization representing personnel employed in the Santa Monica
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, City desires to obtain for employees and
annuitants of the City represented by the SMPOA the benefit of
the Act and to accept the liabilities and obligations of an
employer under the Act and its implementing regulations,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City hereby elects to be subject to the
provisions of the Act for employees and annuitants represented by
the SMPOA.

Section 2. The City t S contribution for each employee
who is a member of, and each annuitant who retired from
employment as a member of the Santa Monica Police Officers f
Association, shall be $16.00 per month. This contribution shall
be in addition to those amounts contributed by the ci ty for
administrative fees and to the Contingency Reserve Fund.
Section 3. The City Manager is directed to file with
the Board of Administration of the Public Employeest Retirement
System a copy of this Resolution, and to perform all necessary
activities on behalf of the city to carry out the intent of this
Resolution.
Section 4. It is the city's intention that the coverage
provided for by the Act become effective August 1, 1987.
Section 5. The city Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
