A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA DECLARING MAY 17-23, 1987
PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, public works services provided in the City of
Santa Monica are an integral part of our citizens t everyday
lives; and
WHEREAS, the support and understanding of the Ci ty t s
citizens are vital to the efficient operation of public works
systems and programs such as civil engineering, traffic
engineering, street cleaning and maintenance, refuse collection,
recycling, public buildings, pier and harbor, cemetery, water,
and wastewater; and
WHEREAS, the health, safety, and comfort of the
citizens of the City of Santa Monica greatly depend on these
facilities and services; and
WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these
facilities and services, as well as their planning, design,
construction, and delivery, are vitally dependent upon the
efforts and skill of public works officials: and
WHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated
personnel who staff Public Works Department is materially

influenced by the people I s attitude and understanding of the
importance of the work they perform,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The report of the Director of General
Services is hereby confirmed.
SECTION 2. May 17-23, 1987 is hereby proclaimed PUbic
Works Week in the City of santa Monica.
SECTION 3. Citizens and civic organizations are called
upon to acquaint themselves with the problems involved in
providing our public works and to recognize the contributions
that public works officials make each day to our health, safety,
and comfort.
SECTION 4. The city Clerk shall certify the adoption
of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter, the same
shall be in full force and effect.
