A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA COMMENDING DAVID G. EPSTEIN
FOR HIS PARTICIPATION AS A CITY COUNCILMEMBER
WHEREAS, David G. Epstein has served on the city council of
the City of Santa Monica since April, 1983; and
WHEREAS, David G. Epstein is recognized for his careful
evaluation of issues, his insight, and his attention to detail;
and
WHEREAS, while serving on the city Council David G. Epstein
has expressed a special concern for our Hispanic population and
has sought ways to involve Hispanics in city government; and
WHEREAS, David G. Epstein initiated the City Smoking
Ordinance for the benefit of pUblic health, and worked toward
legal and procedural consistency on planning and zoning issues;
and
WHEREAS, David G. Epstein recognized the problems of the
homeless and mentally ill and worked toward setting a City policy
to cope with the many issues contributing to homelessnessj and
WHEREAS, David G. Epstein will be remembered for his quick
sense of humor and his ability to insert witticisms into heated
debates, as well as appropriate quotations from literary and
academic sources,

THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF

CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That David G. Epstein be commended for his
extraordinary level of commitment to the citizens of Santa Monica
while serving as City councilmember from April, 1983, to
November, 1986.
SECTION 2. The city Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
