A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE TERMINATION
OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Director of Emergency services to proclaim the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a pUblic calamity
and the City Council is not in session; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf~ and
WHEREAS, the city Council was not in session on January 27,
1983~ and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the city of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the city Council adopted
Resolution Number 6621
(CCS),
ratifying,
confirming,
and
approving the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services~ and

WHEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme
peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen wi thin
the city of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf: and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of
conditions giving rise to the emergency: and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica: and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City council adopted
Resol ution Number 6642
(CCS),
ratifying,
confirming,
and
approving the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Services: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code section 8630, the City
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency:
and
WHEREAS, the situation resulting from conditions of extreme
peril is now deemed to be within the control of the normal
protective services, personnel, equipment, and facilities of the
City of santa Monica,
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, and ratified
by the City council on February 1, 1983, is proclaimed to be
terminated by the city Council of the City of Santa Monica.

SECTION 2 .
The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, and ratified by
the City Council on March 8, 1983, is proclaimed to be terminated
by the City Council of the City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 3. The city Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
