A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS,
MuniCIpal
Code Section 230? authorIzes the
DIrector of Emergency Services to proclaim the eXistence or
threatened eXIstence of a local emergency when the CIty of Santa
MonlCB
15 affected or likely to be affected by a public calamIty
and the CIty CouncIl 15 not In seSSIon; and
WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, condItions of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen
wIthin the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tIdes, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City CounCIl was not In 5e5slon on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS. on January 27, 1983, the DIrector of Emergency
SerVIces of the City of Santa Monica dId proclaIm the eXIstence
of a local emergency wIthin the CIty of Santa MonIca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the CIty CounCIl adopted

approving, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the DIrector of
Emergency Services; and

ratifYing, confirming,
and
approving, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency SerVIces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code SectIon 8630, the CIty
Council has reViewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW,
THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The
local
emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency SerVices on January 27,
1983, shall be
deemed to continue to eXIst 1n the CIty of Santa MonIca untIl Its
termInation
15 proclaimed by the C1ty CounCIl
of the Cl ty of
Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2.
The
local
emergency as proclaImed by the
DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on March 1~ 1983} shall be deemed
to contInue
to eXl5t

SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certlfy to the adoptIon of
