O1344 . e CA:RMM:rmo056a City Council Meeting 10-1-85 Santa Monica, California ORDINANCE NUMBER 1344(CCS} (CIty Council Series) AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 3347A TO ESTABLISH NEW POSTED SPEED LIMITS ON VARIOUS CITY STREET SEGMENTS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 3347A of the Santa Monica MunIcipal Code is amended to read as follows: SECTION J347A. Increaslna State Sneed Limits In Gertain Zones. It IS hereby determined that upon the basis of engIneering and traffic surveys that the speed permitted by State law upon the following streets, or portions thereof, is less than is necessary for safe operatIon of vehIcles thereon by reason of the prevailing speeds as determ1ned by traffic engIneering measurements thereupon, accidents records, and hIghway traffic and roadside conditions, and It 15 hereby declared 1 e e that the prima facie speed limIt, as indicated by and pursuant to said engineering and traffic surveys made pursuant to Section 627 of the California Vehicle Code, shall be as hereinafter set forth on those streets or portions of streets herein designated at the times specified when signs are erected giving notice thereof: (1) 45 miles per hour: a. Olympic Boulevard from 11th Street to Centlnela Avenue. b. San Vicente Boulevard from 7th Street to 26th Street. (2) 40 miles per hour: a. Ocean Park Boulevard from 25th to Centinela Avenue. (3) 35 miles per hour: a. San Vicente Boulevard from Ocean Avenue to 7th Street. b. Broadway from Streets to Centlnela Avenue. c. Colorado Avenue from 26th 20th Street to Centlnela Avenue. d. Pico Boulevard from Ocean Avenue to Centinela Avenue. 2 e e e. Ocean Park Boulevard from 14th Street to Centinela Avenue. f. Barnard Way from the southeasterly prolongation lIne of Pier Avenue to HollIster Avenue. g. Ocean Avenue from Hollister Avenue to BIcknell Avenue, and from California Avenue to north city lImIts. h. Neilson Way from south city limits to Pico Boulevard. i. MaIn Street from Ocean Park Boulevard to Colorado Avenue. j. 26th Street from Wilshire Boulevard to San VIcente Boulevard. k. Wilshire Boulevard from Lincoln Boulevard to Centlnela Avenue. 1. Santa Monica Boulevard from Lincoln Boulevard to Centlnela Avenue. m. Colorado Boulevard from Lincoln Boulevard to 20th Street. Robson Street from 17th Street to Dewey Street. h. Dewey Street from Robson Street to 23rd Street. i. Airport Avenue from 23rd Street to Bundy Drive. j. Ocean Avenue from Colorado Avenue to CalifornIa Avenue. k. 4th Street from Ocean Park Boulevard to San Vicente Boulevard. 1. 7th Street from Olympic Boulevard (north leg) to north city limits. m. Main Street from the south city limlts to Ocean Park Boulevard. 5 . e x. WIlshire Boulevard from Ocean Avenue to LIncoln Boulevard. y. Arizona Avenue from Ocean Avenue to LIncoln Boulevard. z. Santa Honlca Boulevard Ocean Avenue to Lincoln from Boulevard. aa. Broadway from Ocean Avenue to Lincoln Boulevard. bb. Colorado from Ocean Avenue to Lincoln Boulevard. SECTION 2. Any provision of the Santa Honlca Municipal Code or appendIces thereto Inconsistent wIth the provisions of this ordinance, to the extent of such inconsistencies and no further, are hereby repealed or modifIed to that extent necessary to affect the prOVISions of this ordinance. SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of thiS ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstItutIonal by a decision of any court of any competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portIons of the ordinance. The CIty Council hereby declares that it would have passed thIS ordinance and each and every sectIon, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase not declared invalid or unconstItutional 6 . e wIthout regard to whether any portIon of the ordinance would be subsequently declared Invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk shall cause the same to be published once in the official newspaper within 15 days after Its adoption. ThIS ordinance shall become effective after 30 days from its adoptIon.
