ORDINANCE NUMBER 1341(CCS)

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA FIXING THE TAX RATE AND LEVYING TAX FOR FISCAL
YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1985 FOR THE DOWNTOWN PARKING
AND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. For the purpose of ralslng the sums of money
necessary to be ralsed by an ad valorem tax upon all of the land
and lmprovements (but excludlng personal property) in the Down-
town Parklng and Business Improvement Distrlct In additlon to the
taxes levled In Taxatlon Dlstrlct Number 1, a tax is leVled at
the rate of $0.5625 upon each $100.00 of market value of the
property as assessed by the County Assessor and equallzed by the
Board of Supervlsors of the County of Los Angeles. Sald Down-
town Parklng and BUSlness Improvement Dlstrlct has an assessed
valuatlon of $123,331,031 excluslve of PubllC Utlllty values and
1S descr1bed as follows:
"Bounded on the northeasterly slde of the center llne
of 4th Court, the southeasterly side by the center
llne of Broadway, the southwesterly slde by the
center llne of 1st Court, and the northwesterly slde
by the center of Wllshlre Boulevard, all In the Clty
of Santa Monlca."

SECTION 2. If any sect~on, subsect~on, sentence, clause or
phrase of th~s ordinance ~s for any reason held to be inval~d or
unconst~tutional by a dec~son of any court of competent Jur1sd1ction,
such decis10n shall not affect the val1d~ty of the remain~ng port1ons
of the ord1nance. The C~ty Counc1l hereby declares that it would
have passed th1s ord1nance and each section, subsect~on, clause or
phrase hereof, irrespective of the fact that anyone or more sect1ons,
subsections, clauses or phrases be declared inval1d or unconst1tu-
t~onal.
SECTION 3. The Mayor shall s~gn and the C1ty Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ord1nance. The C1ty Clerk shall cause
same to be published once ~n the off1c~al newspaper w1th1n f1fteen
(15) days after ~ts adopt~on. Th~s ord~nance shall take effect
1mmed1ately upon adopt~on pursuant to Sect~on 619 of the Charter of
the C~ty of Santa Mon1ca.
