AN ORDI NANCE OF THE CI TY CODNeI L OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA ADDING SECTION 3238d
TO THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE TO
ESTABLISH PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONE D
WHEREAS, the Parklng and Traffic Engineer has received a
petitlon requesting establishment of a preferential parklng zone
on Stanford Street between Wilshire Boulevard and Lipton Avenue:
and
WHEREAS, the petitlon has been verified to be signed by
residents living in two-thirds of the dwelling units comprlsing
not less than 50 percent of the developed frontage of the
proposed preferential parking zone: and
WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Englneer has undertaken
such studies and surveys deemed necessary to determine whether a
preferential parking zone should be designated in the area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council lS satlsfied that the proposed
area meets the designatlon criterla set forth in Municipal Code
Section 3232A,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CI TY CODNCI L OF THE CI TY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Sectlon 3238d lS added to the Santa Monica
Municipal Code to read as follows:

Section
Parklng Zone D.
(a) The following named and
described street wlthin the City shall
constltute Preferential Parklng Zone D:
Stanford Street between Wllshire
3238d.
Preferential
Boulevard and Lipton Avenue.
(b) No vehlcle shall be parked or
stopped adJacent to any curb in
Preferential Parklng Zone D during the
hours of 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. without a
permit issued and displayed in accordance
with thls Chapter.
(c) No vehicle shall be parked or
stopped adJacent to any curb ln
Preferentlal Parking Zone D for more than
two hours between the hours of 9:00 a.m.
and 6:00 p.m. without a permit issued
and displayed ln accordance with this
Chapter.
(d) Any vehlcle parked or stopped
wlthout a permit when requlred by thlS
Section may be removed from the street by
any police officer.
(e) The annual fee for each permit
lssued for Preferential Parking Zone D
shall be $15.00 per perrnlt or such other

fee as may be established from time to
time by resolution of the City Council.
SECTION 2.
Any provision of the Santa Monica Municlpal
Code or appendices thereto inconsistent with the provisions of
this ordinance, to the extent of such i~consistencies and no
further, are hereby repealed or modi fled to that extent necessary
to affect the provisions of thlS ordinance.
SECTION 3.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
or phrase of thlS ordlnance lS for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by a decislon of any court of any competent
j ur lsdiction,
such decislon shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portlons of the ordinance. The City CounCll hereby
declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each and
every
sectlon,
subsection,
sentence,
clause or phrase not
declared invalid or unconstitutional wlthout regard to whether
any portlon of the ordlnance would be subsequently declared
lnvalid or unconstltutlonal.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordlnance. The City Clerk shall
cause the same to be publlshed once ln the official newspaper
within 15 days after its adoption.
The ordlnance shall become
effectlve after 30 days from ltS adoptlon.
