AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING SECTION 338aB
OF THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE
TO REVISE THE DEFINITION OF HOLIDAY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. SectIon 3388B of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code 1S hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 3388B.
Holidav.
The
word "holiday" shall mean and include
the
follOWing
days:
January 1,
February
12, the third Monday In
February, the last Monday in May, July
4, the 1st Monday In September, the
2nd Monday in October, November 11,
Thanksgiving Day, December 25 and any
other
day designated by the City
Council of the C1ty of Santa Monica as
a day for public feast, thanksgiving
or holiday. When January 1, February
12, July 4, November 11, or December
25 falls on a Saturday, the holiday

shall be deemed to be the preceding
Friday; when January 1, February 12,
July 4) November 11, or December 25
falls on a Sunday, the holiday shall
be deemed to be the following Monday.
SECTION 2. Any provIsion of the Santa Monica MunIcipal
Code or appendices thereto Inconsistent wIth the provIsions of
thiS ordinance, to the extent of such Inconsistencies and no
further,
is hereby repealed or modifIed to that extent
necessary to affect the proviSIons of this ordinance.
SECTION
3.
If any section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase of this ordInance is for any reason held to
be invalid or unconstitutional by a decisIon of any court of
competent Jurisdiction, such deciSIon shall not affect the
validity of the remaInIng portions of the ordInance. The City
Council hereby declares that It would have passed this
ordinance and each and every section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase not declared Invalid or unconstitutional
without regard to whether any portion of the ordinance would
be subsequently declared Invalid or unconstitutional.

SECTION 4 . The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of thls ordinance. The City Clerk
shall cause the same to be published once In the official
newspaper Within 15 days after its adoption. The ordlnance
shall become effective 30 days from lts adoption.
