ORDINANCE NUMBER 1312(CCS)

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA FIXING THE TAX RATE AND LEVYING TAX FOR FISCAL
YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1984 FOR THE DOWNTOWN PARKING
AND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
For the purpose of raising the sums of money
necessary to be raised by an ad valorem tax upon all of the land
and 1mprovements (but excluding personal property) in the
Downtown Parking and Business Improvement District in addition to
the taxes levied in Taxation District Number 1, a tax is levied
at the rate of $0.5625 upon each $100.00 of market value of the
property as assessed by the County Assessor and equalized by the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles. Said Downtown
Parking and Business Improvrnent District has an assessed
valuation of $131,312,700 exclusive of Public Utility values and
is described as follows:
"Bounded on the northeasterly side of the center line
of 4th Court, the southeasterly side by the center
line of Broadway, the southwesterly side by the
center l~ne of 1st Court, and the northwesterly side
by the center of Wilshire Boulevard, all in the City
of Santa Monica."

SECTION 2. ~ any section, SUbsection,~ntence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or
unconstitutional by a decision of any court of competent
]urisdict1on, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of the ord1nance.
The City Council hereby
declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each
section, subsection, clause or phrase hereof, irrespective of the
fact that anyone or more sections, subsect1.ons, clauses or
phrases be declared 1nvalid or unconst1tutional.
SECTION 3. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance.
The City Clerk shall
cause same to be published once in the official newspaper within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption. Th1S ordinance shall take
effect 1mmediately upon adopt1on pursuant to Section 619 of the
Charter of the City of Santa Monica.
