AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
ADDING SECTION 3620 TO THE
SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO RUNNING AND
OTHER SPORTING EVENTS ON PUBLIC
PROPERTY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS
SECTION 1.
Seetlon 3620 is added to the Santa Mon1ca
Mun1c1pal Code to read as follows

3620.
Runn1ng
and Other
Sportln9 Events.
In conneet1on with any
runn1ng or other sport1ng event for which a
perrnlt or other approval has been 1ssued by
the Clty of Santa Mon1ca, no person who 1S
not a reglstered or authorized part1c1pant 1n
the event shall part1c1pate in, obstruct, or
be on the approved event course during the
conduct
of the event after hav1ng been
requested by a peace off1cer or other event
off1c1al
to

partic1pation,
obstruction, or presence on the approved
event course.

SECTION 2.
Ordlnance Number 1290 (CCS) lS repealed.
SECTION 3.
Any provlsion of the Santa Mon1ca Municipal
Code or appendices thereto 1nconsistent w1th the provisions of
th1S ord1nance,
to the extent of such inconS1stencles and no
further, are hereby repealed or mod1fied to that extent necessary
to affect the provlsions of th1S ordlnance.
SECTION 4.
If any sectlon, subsectlon, sentence, clause,
or phrase of this ordinance 1S for any reason held to be inval1d
or unconstltutlonal by a declslon of any court of any competent
]urlsdlctlon,
such decision shall not affect the valld1ty of the
remalnlng portions of the ordinance. The Clty Council hereby
declares that lt would have passed th1S ordinance and each and
every
sect1on,
subsection,
sentence, clause or phrase not
declared lnvalid or unconstitutional wlthout regard to whether
any portlon of the ordinance would be subsequently declared
lDvalid or unconstltut1onal.
SECTION 5. The Mayor shall 51gn and the Clty Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordlnance. The City Clerk shall
cause the same to be publlshed once 1n the offlclal newspaper
w1thln 15 days after lts adoption.
The ord1nance shall become
effectlve after 30 days from ltS adoptlon.
