AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
ADDING SECTION 3390*TO THE
SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO RUNNING AND
OTHER SPORTING EVENTS ON PUBLIC
PROPERTY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Section 3390* is added to the Santa Monica
Munic~pal Code to read as follows:

3390~
Runnins
and Other
Sport~ng Events.
In connection w1th any
running or other sporting event for which a
permit or other approval has been issued by
the C1ty of Santa Monica, no person who is
not a registered or authorized participant in
the event shall participate in, obstruct, or
be on the approved event course during the
cond uct
of the event after having been
requested by a peace officer or other event
off1c1al
to
discontinue
participation,
obstruction, or presence on the approved
event course.

SECTION 2.
Any provision of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code or appendices thereto inconSlstent with the provisions of
this ordinance,
to the extent of such inconsistencies and no
further, are hereby repealed or modified to that extent necessary
to affect the provlS10ns of this ordinance.
SECTION 3.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
or phrase of this ordinance lS for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of any competent
jurlsdiction,
such decision shall not affect the validity of the
rema1ning portions of the ordinance. The City Council hereby
declares that it would have passed thlS ordinance and each and
every
sect lon,
subsectlon,
sentence, clause or phrase not
declared 1nvalld or unconstitutlonal without regard to whether
any portlon of the ordlnance would be subsequently declared
invalid or unconst1tutional.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance. This City Clerk shall
cause the same to be published once in the official newspaper
with1n 15 days after its adoption.
The ordinance shall become
effective after 30 days from its adoption.
