ORDINANCE NO.
1285(CCS)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA FIXING THE TAX RATE AND LEVYING TAX FOR FISCAL
YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1983 FOR THE DOWNTOWN PARKING
AND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
For the purpose of ra1s1ng the sums of money
necessary to be ralsed by an ad valorem tax upon all of the land
and improvements (but excludlng personal property) in the
Downtown Parklng and Business Improvement District in addition to
the taxes levled ln Taxation District Number 1, a tax is levied
at the rate of $0.5625 upon each $100.00 of market value of the
property as assessed by the County Assessor and equalized by the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles. Said Downtown
Parking
and Business Improvement Distrlct has an assessed
valuation of $123,763,148 exclusive of Public Utlllty values and
is described as follows:
"Bounded on the northeasterly slde of the center line of 4th
Court,
the southeasterly side by the center line of
Broadway, the southwesterly side by the center Ilne of lst
Court, and the northwesterly slde by the center of Wilshire
Boulevard, all in the City of Santa Monica."
SECTION 2. If any sectlon, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance lS for any reason held to be invalid or
unconstitutlonal
by a decision of any court of competent
Jurisdlction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the

remalning portions of the ordlnance. The City Council hereby
declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each
section, subsection, clause or phrase hereof, irrespectlve of the
fact that anyone or more sections, subsectlons, clauses or
phrases be declared invalld or unconstltutional.
SECTION 3.
The Mayor shall sign and the Clty Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk shall
cause same to be published once in the official newspaper within
fifteen (IS) days after lts adoption. This ordinance shall take
effect immediately upon adoption pursuant to Section 619 of the
Charter of the Clty of Santa Monica.
