AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
ADDING MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 3396
TO AUTHORIZE PARKING METER PERMITS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLWWS:
SECTION 1. Sectlon 3396 of the Santa Monlca Munlcipal Code
lS amended to read as follows:
Sectlon 3396.
Parking Meter
Permits.
Notwlthstandlng any other
proviSl0n of this Code, any person may
park a vehicle at designated parking
spaces ln the Clty without the necessity
of depositlng coins in the meters
adJacent to such space, provided said
vehlcle has displayed in the manner
required by the Trafflc and Parking
Eng lneer a permit issued by the Ci ty
authorlz1ng the vehicl e to park in the
space wlthout the necesslty of deposltlng
such coins and provlded the parking meter
dlsp1ays a sign authorizlng parking

perMits at such meter.
The areas 1n
which such parking perml ts may be used
and the fees for the lssuance of parking
perm1ts shall be established by
resolution of the City Counc11
SECTION 2. Any provision of the Santa Monica Munlc1pal
Code or appendlces thereto inconSlstent wlth the provlsions of
this ordinance, to the extent of such incons1stencies and no
further, are hereby repealed or modifled to that extent necessary
to affect the provlslons of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. If any sectlon, subsection, sentence, clause,
or phrase of this ordlnance is for any reason held to be invalid
or unconst1tutlonal by a decision of any court of any competent
jurisdlctlon, such decision shall not affect the valldity of the
remal.nlng portions of the ordinance. The City Counci 1 her eby
declares that lt would have passed this ordinance and each and
every sectl.on, subsectlon, sentence, clause or phrase not
declared lnvalld or unconstl tut1ona1 without regard to whether
any portion of the ordlnance would be subsequently declared
invalld or unconstltutlonal.

SECTION 4.
The Mayor shall s1gn and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance.
This City Clerk shall
cause the same to be published once in the officlal newspaper
'Wl thin 15 days after its adoption.
The ord1nance shall become
effective after 30 days from ltS adoptlon.
