ORDINANCE NO. 1257(cCS)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
FIXING THE TAX RATE AND LEVYING TAX FOR FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING
JULY 1, 1982, FOR THE PARKING AND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. For the purpose of ra~sing the sums of money
necessary to be ra~sed by an ad valorem tax upon all of the
land and ~mprovements (but excludlng personal property) ~n the
Parklng and Business Improvement Area ln additlon to the taxes
levled ln Taxation Distrlct Number 1, a tax ~s lev led at the
rate of $0.5625 upon each $100.00 of market value of the property
as assessed by the County Assessor and equallzed by the Board of
Supervlsors of the County of Los Angeles. Sa~d Parklng and
BUSlness Improvement Area has an assessed valuat~on of $87,085,335
excluslve of Publ~c Ut~l~ty values and lS descrlbed as follows:
"Bounded on the northeasterly side of the center
IlEe of 4th Court, the southeasterly slde by the
center 11ne of Broadway, the southwesterly slde by
the center llne of 1st Court, and the northwesterly
slde by the center of W~lshlre Boulevard, all in the
C~ty of Santa Monlca."
SECTION 2. If any sect~on, subsect1on, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ord1nance 1S for any reason held to be invalld or
unconstitut~onal by a declsion of any court of competent
Jurlsdlct~on, such decis~on shall not affect the valldlty of the
remalnlng port~ons of the ordlnance. The Clty Council hereby
declares that It would have passed thlS ordinance and each
sectlon, subsectlon, clause or phrase hereof, lrrespect~ve of
the fact that anyone or more sectlons, subsectlons, clauses or
phrases be declared lnval1d or unconstitut~onal.

SECTION 3. The Mayor shall Slgn and the Clty Clerk shall
attest to the passage of thlS ordlnance. The Clty Clerk shall
cause same to be publlshed once In the off~clal newspaper
w~thin flfteen (15) days after ~ts adopt~on. This ord~nance
shall take effect lmmed~ately upon adoptlon pursuant to
Sectlon 619 of the Charter of the Clty of Santa Mon~ca.
