O1249 ~ e e o CA:RMM:r City Council Meetlng 4-13-82 Santa Monica, California ORDINANCE NUMBER 1249(CC5) (C1ty Council Series) AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA CREATING AND ELIMINATING CERTAIN DEPARTMENTS OF CITY GOVERNMENT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Sections 2226 and 2227 of the Santa Monica Munic1pal Code are amended to read as follows: Section 2226. Commun~ty and Economic Development Department. Pursuant to Section 702 of the City Charter, there is hereby created a department in the C1ty government to be known as the Community and Economic Development Department. Within the the Community and Economic Develop- ment Department shall be the Housing Office, Commun1ty and Neighborhood Services Office, Economic and Redevelopment Office, Planning Depart- ment, and Build1ng Department. ~ e e Section 2227. Department Head and Duties. The head of the Community and Economic Development Department shall be the Director of Community and Economic Development who shall be appointed by the City Manager. The Director of Community and Economic Development shall coord1nate and super- vise the Housing Office, Community and Ne1ghborhood Services Office, Economic and Redevelopment Office, Planning Department, and Building Department. SECTION 2. Sect10ns 2218, 2219, 2220, 2221, 2228, 2229, 2230, 2231, 2232, and 2233 of the Santa Monica Municipal Code are repealed. SECTION 3. Any provision of the Santa Monica Municipal Code or appendices thereto inconslstent with the provisions of this ordinance, to the extent of such incons1stencies and no further, is hereby repealed or modified to that extent necessary to affect the provisions of this ordinance. SECTION 4. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalId or unconstitutIonal by a decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the val1d1ty of the remainlng portions of the ordinance. The City Council hereby declares that it would have passed this -2- 1 e e ordinance and each and every section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase not declared invalid or unconstitutional without regard to whether any portion of the ordinance would be subsequently declared invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk shall cause the same to be publ~shed once in the official newspaper within 15 days after its adoption. The ordinance shall become effective 30 days from its adoption.
