AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING
THE 1979 NEWSRACK ORDINANCE TO ENLARGE
THE AREA OF ZONE A
WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 1131 (CCS) established
special requirements for newsracks located in a zone covering
Wilsh1re Boulevard and Fifth and Sixth Streets from Santa
Mon1ca Boulevard to wilshire Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, Ord1nance Number 1174 (CCS) enlarged the zone
to add Fourth Street from Wilshire Boulevard to Colorado
Avenue, Santa Monica Mall, Santa Mon1ca Place, and Lincoln
Boulevard from Broadway to the Santa Monica Freeway; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
desires to enlarge the zone to add the area bounded by
wilshire Boulevard on the north, Second Street on the east,
Colorado Avenue on the south, and Ocean Avenue on the west,
the area bounded by Colorado Boulevard on the north, Main
Street on the east, pice Boulevard on the south, and Ocean
Avenue on the west, and the area bounded by pico Boulevard on
the north, Main Street on the east, the city limits on the
south, and Neilson Way and Appian Way on the west,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance Number 1131 (CCS) is hereby
amended to replace the map of Zone A with the map attached
hereto, enlarging Zone A to add the area bounded by Wilshire
Boulevard on the north, Second Street on the east, Colorado
Avenue on the south, and Ocean Avenue on the west, the area
bounded by Colorado Boulevard on the north, Main Street on
the east, Pico Boulevard on the south, and Ocean Avenue on
the west, and the area bounded by Pico Boulevard on the
north, Ma1n Street on the east, the city l1mits on the south,
and Neilson Way and Appian Way on the west.
SECTION 2. Any provision of the Santa Mon1ca Municipal
Code or appendices thereto inconsistent w~th the provisions
of this ord1nance, to the extent of such inconsistencies and
no further, is hereby repealed or modified to that extent
necessary to affect the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to
be invalid or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of
competent Jur1sdict10n, such dec1sion shall not affect the
valid1ty of the remaIning portions of the ordinance. The
City Council hereby declares that it would have passed this
ordinance and each and every section, subsection, sentence,
clause, or phrase not declared invalid or unconstitutional
w1thout regard to whether any portion of the ordinance would
be subsequently declared inval1d or unconstitutional.

SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City
Clerk shall cause the same to be published once in the
official newspaper with1n IS days after its adoption. The
ordinance shall become effective 30 days from its adoption.
