AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING
SECTION 206 OF THE 1979 UNIFORM
ADMINISTRATIVE CODE TO INCLUDE
SEISMIC SAFETY PROVISIONS
WHEREAS, the City Councll of the Clty of Santa ~1onica
adopted Ordinance No. 1177 (CCS) on September 9, 1980:
WHEREAS, Ord~nance No. 1177 adopted the 1979 Uniform
Admlnlstrative and Technical Construction Codes;
WHEREAS, the 1979 Uniform Admin~stratlve Code contains
the local a~endments to the 1979 Unifar~ Technical Codes;
~VHEREAS, Sect~on 206(c) of the Uniform Administratlve
Code, entltled "Supplemental Seismic Safety Rehabl1itation
Requ1rements" reserved the followlng subsections for future use
pending further study:
DIVISION 2.00 SCOPE
DIVISION 3.00 REQUIREMENTS FOR SEISMIC REHABILITION
OF EXISTING POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS BUILDINGS
DIVISION 4.00 STANDARDS FOR SEISMIC REHABILITATION
WHEREAS, the Clty Cauncl1 has recelved the flnal report of
the SelsmlC Technical Commlttee;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Sectlon 206(c) of the Uniform Adm~nistratlve
Code adopted by Ordinance No. 1177 is hereby amended to read

modlfied to that extent necessary to affect the provisions
of this ordlnance.
SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of any competent
jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remalning portions of the ordinance. The City Council hereby
declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each and every
section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase not declared
invalid or unconstitutlonal without regard to whether any
portion of the ordinance would be subsequently declared invalid
or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk shall
cause the same to be publlshed once in the officlal newspaper
within fifteen (15) days after its adopt~on. The ordinance
shall become effectlve after thirty (30) days from its adoption.
