(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA AMENDING SECTION 72l2(b) OF THE
SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE, PERTAINING TO FIRE
SERVICE CHARGE RATES
The City Council of the City of Santa Monica does hereby
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Sect10n 72l2(b) of the Santa Mon1ca Munic1pal
Code 1S hereby amended to read as follows:
Sect10n 72l2(b). Charges for Serv1ce. The standby charge
for automatic f1re serV1ce shall be set by resolution of the C1ty Council and
thereafter be revlsed. ~o addit10nal charge shall be made for water used when
1n the opinion of the Water Superintendent such usage is reasonably related to
fire protect10n.
SECTION 2. Any prov1sion of the Santa Monica Munlcipal Code,
or appendlces thereto inconsistent herew1th, to the extent of such lncuns1stencies
and no further, are hereby repealed or modified to that extent necessary to effect
the provis1ons of this ord1nance.
SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of th1S ordinance is for any reason held to inval1d or unconst1tut1onal by
a decision of any court of any competent jurlsdiction, such dec1sion shall not
affect the valldity of the remalnlng portions of the ordlnance. The C1ty Council
hereby declares that lt would have passed this ordinance and each and every section,
subsection, sentence, clause or phrase not declared lnvalid or unconst1tutional
without regard to whether any portlon of the ordinance would be subsequently
declared lnvalid or unconstitutional.

SECTION 4. The Mayor shall Slgn and the Clty Clerk shall
attest to the passage of thlS ordinance. The Clty Clerk shall cause the same
to be publlshed once ln the offlc1al newspaper withln fifteen (15) days after
lts adoption. The ordinance shall become effectlve th1rty (30) days after
its adoption~
