AN ORDINANCE OF, THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA LIMITING
THE TERM OF THE REPRESENTATIVE OF'
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ON THE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF TH~ METROPOLITAN
WATER DISTRICT TO FOUR YEARS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Ord1nance No. 897 (CCS) 15 hereby anfended and
as amended shall read as follows:
The term of office of the representative
of the City of Santa Monica on the Board of Directors of the
Metropolitan Water Distrlct shall be four {4) years.
Such term shall commence on January 1 of an odd-numbered year
and explre on December 31 of an even-numbered year or until
a successor has been appointed and qualified.
SECTION 2. Any provls1on of the Santa Monlca Munlcipal Code
or appendices thereto inconsistent therewith, to the extent of such
inconslstencies and no further, are hereby repealed or modlfled to
that extent necessary to affect the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. If any sectlon, subsection, sentence, clause, or
phrase of this ordlnance is for any reason held to be inval~d or
unconstitutional by a decision of any court of any competent Juris-
diction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remainlng
portions of the ordinance. The City Council hereby declares that it

would have passed this ordinance and each and every section, sub-
section, sentence, clause or phrase not declared invalid or uncon-
stltutional wlthout regard to whether any portion of the ordinance
would be subsequently declared lnvalld or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk shall
cause the same to be published once in the official newspaper
within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. The ordinance shall
become effective after thirty (3D) days from its adoption.
