PEALING CHAPTER I, "TECHNICAL
CONSTRUCTION CODES, n OF ARTICLE VIII
OF THE SANTA MONICA Mm~ICIPAL CODE
IN ITS ENTIRETY ~ND ADDING CHAPTER I,
"ADMINISTRATIVE AND TECHNICAL CON-
STRUCTION CODES" TO ARTICLE VIII OF
THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, Sect~on 17958 of the Californ~a Health
~d Safety Code provides that any City or County shall
have one year from the effectlve date of any Uniform
Housing Codes adopted by the Commission of Housing and
Community Development, in which to amend, add or repeal
ordlnances or regulations to impose the same require-
ments or to make changes or modifications in such re-
requlrements upon express findings; and
WHEREAS, the Building and Safety Commission has
reviewed the 1979 editions of the Uniform Fire,
Buildlng, Housing, Abatement, and Administrative Codes,
the reference standards and 1979 National Fire Codes
Vol. 1-16; and
WHEREAS, the Building and Safety Commission has
conferred with the city's Fire Marshal and Building
Officer concerning technical modifications and changes
within these model code editions, and rev~s~ons for
purposes of administration and enforcement in Santa
Monica; and
WHEREAS, the Building and Safety Commission has
discussed and considered in detail community fire safe-
ty problems caused by the cumulative impact of exten-
sive development and building construction activities
on operations and staffing of the fire services and
f~re defenses; and
