AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING THE 19n5
ORDINANCE CREATING A HOUSING'COMMISSION
IN SANTA MONICA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ~10NICA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
SECTION nl. Ordinance No ~:l022 (CCS') is hereby amended and
as amended shall read as follows.
SECTION 2. There is hereby created, in the City of Santa
Monica, a Housing Commissio,n. Said Commission is created pursuant
to Section 34291 of the Health and Safety Code of the State of
California and Section 1000 of the Santa ~1onica City Charter.
SECTION 3. The Housing Commission shall consist of seven (7)
members to be .appointedby the City Council. Each member shall
serve for a term of four (4j years and until his or her respected
successor is appointed and qualified. The members of the Housing
Commission shall be subject to removal by motion of the City Council
adopted by at least five (5) affirmative votes. They shall also be
subject to all relevant Sections of Article X of the Santa Monica
City Charter regulating appointive boards and commissions.
SECTION 4. To be eligible for appointment as a member of the
Housing Commission, each appointee shall be a resident of the City
of Santa Monica and hold no other office or employment with said City.
SECTION 5. The power, duties and functions of the Housing
Commission shall be established by resolution of the City Council.,
SECTION 6. Any provision of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code or appendices thereto inconsistent therewith, to the extent
of such inconsistencies and no further, are herel:1y repealed or
modified to that extent necessary to affect the provisions of
this ordinance.
SECTION 7. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of , any competent
jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of
the remaining portions of the ordinance. The City~Council hereby
declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each and
every section, subsection, sentence, Rlause or phrase not declared
invalid or unconstitutional without regard to whether any portion
of the ordinance would be subsequently declared invalid or un-
constitutional.

SECTION 8. The Mayor shall sign and the

cause the same to be published once in the OffiCi41 newspaper
within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. The ordinance
shall become effective after thirty (30) days from its adoption.
