AN ORDINA11CE OF TBE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA EXTENDING THE EXISTING
~1ORATORIU.M THE DEVEI.OPMI::NT IN CE~TAIN
PORTIONS OF THE OCEAN PA~K AREA OF THE CITY
WHE~EAS the City Councll lntroduced and adopted Ord~nance
No. 1144 declar~ng a moratoriu~ on development on Main Street
from Plea Boulevard to the South Clty Ilmits on January 8, 1980,
WHEREAS, the purpose of thlS moratorium was to stop
development until a special ~lan for future development acceptable
to residents, merchants and property owners could be devised,
{'I1HEREAS, representat1ves of the Haln Street ASSOC1.atlon
(MSA) and the OCean Park Community Organization (OPCO) have
nearly cOMpleted a ~aln Street Plan.
WHERF~S, a final draft of th~s plan wlll not be flnlshed
prior to the expiration of the moratorlum
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SA~TA MONICA DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE:
SECTION l. The Moratorium on development ~n certain
parts of the Ocean Park Area establlshed under the terms of
Ordinance 1146 (CCS) lS hereby extended for a perlod of sixty (60)
days to and l.ncludlnq August 27, 1980.
SECTION 2. Any orOV1Sl0n of the Santa r10nlca Municipal
Code or appendices thereto incons~stent therewlth, to the extent
of such inconslstencies and no further, are hereby repealed or
modif~ed to that extent necessary to affect the provislons of
thlS ordlnance.

SECTION 3.
If any section, subsection,
,
sentence, clause
or phrase of th~s ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutlonal by a declsion of any court of any competent
jurlsdlction, such decision shall not effect the valldlty of the
remaining portions of the ordlnanee. The City Council hereby
declares that It would have passed this ordinance and each and
every section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase not declared
invalld or unconstitutional without regard to whether any portlon
of the ordlnance would be subsequently declared invalid or
unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk shall
cause the same to be published once in the official newspaper
within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. ~he ordinance
shall become effectlve after thirty (30) days from its adoptlon.
