AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
EXTENDING THE EXISTING MORATORIUM
ON THE APPROVAL AND PROCESSING OF
CERTAIN CONDOMINIUM PROJECTS.
WHEREAS the CityCounc~l~ on May 8, 1979, adopted and
approved Ordinance Number 1124 {CCS}, creating a moratorium
on the approval or processing of certa1n condom~nlum projects;
and
WHEREAS, on September 11, 1979, the City Council
extended th1S moratorlum until March 4, 1980; and
WHEREAS the Planning Commlss1on has held a public
hearlng on proposed amendments to the Santa-<Monica Municipal
Code related to condominium conversions; and
WHEREAS the Planning Commission has recommended that
the moratorium be extended for a period of ninety (90)
days to allow the Commission to submit recommendations and the
Council to act upon them; and
WHEREAS the City Council hereby concurs and affirms
the recommendations of the Plannlng Commission:
SECTION l. The moratorium on certain condominium or
commun~ty apartment projects involv~ng the conversion or -
removal of controlled rental units establlshed under the
terms of Ordinance #1124 (CCS), is hereby further extended
for a perlod of nlnety (90) days to and includ1ng June 4,
1980.

SECTION 2. Any provlsion of the Santa Monica Mun~cipal
Code or append~ces thereto inconsistent therewith, to the
extent of such inconsistencies and no further, are her~by
suspended for the type of construction and development described
hereln during this moratorium.
SECTION 3. If any section, subsect1on, sentence, clause,
or phrase of thlS ordinance is for any reason held to be
lnval1d or unconstltut~onal by a declsion of any court of
any competent jurisdict1on, such decision shall not affect
the val1dlty of the remaln~ng portlons of the ordlnance.
The City CounCl1 hereby declares that it would have passed
th1S ordinance and each and every section, subsection,
sentence, clause or phrase not declared invalid or un-
const1tutional wlthout regard to whether any port~on of
the ordlnance would be subsequently declared invalid or
unconstltut~onal.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall slgn and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of th1S ordlnance. The City
Clerk shall cause the same to be published once 1n the offic~al
newspaper withln flfteen (15) days after ltS adoptlon. The
ordinance shall become effective after th~rty (30) days
from its adoption.
