ORDI~ANCE NUHBER 1140

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SA~UA HONICA PROVIDDIG
FOR CERTAIX PROCEDURES FOR THE
SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON I\'OVEHBER 6, 1979 IN THE
CITY OF SA~TA MONICA.
WHEREAS, a SpecIal Municipal Election has been called
for ~ovember 6, 1979 to fill a CouncIl vacancy and to vote on a
measure known as PropositIon Q which would amend Charter XVIII,
and
WHEREAS, said municipal election is being held concur-
rently with a Special Statewide Election which IS also scheduled
for November 6, 1979, and
WHEREAS, Sectlon 22805 of the Callfornla Elections Code
requires that the goverulng body appolnt and fix compensatlon
for election officers and Section 23312 of the CalifornIa State
Election Code governs the publication of nrecincts, polling places
and nanes of nenbers of precinct boards~

SECTION 1. The precinct pollIng places to be used for
the Santa ~onica Election shall be those established for the Spe-
cial StatewIde Election whIch is also scheduled for November 6,
1979.

SECTIO~ 2. That the salaries of the election officers
are set as follows:
Inspectors - $34.00
Judges - $24.00
Clerks - $24.00
SECTION 3. The Registrar-Recorder of the County of
Los Angeles is hereby authorized to publish a descrIptIon of con-
solidated precincts, pollIng places and names of members of pre-
cinct boards.
SECTIO~ 4. The canvass of the electIon IS to be made
by the CIty Clerk prior to the first Tuesday after the electIon
and shall certIfy the results to the governing body on the first
Tuesday after the electIon.
SECTION 5. As this ordinance relates to the conduct of
an election, It shall be effectIve Immediately, pursuant to
Section 619A of the City Charter.
SECTION 6. If any sectIon, subsection, sentence, clause,
or phrase of thIS ordInance is for any reason held to be InvalId
or unconstitutional be a deCIsion of any court of competent Juris-
diction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the re-
mainIng portions of the ordInance. The City CounCIl hereby de-
clares that it would have passed this ordinance and each and every
section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase not declared in-
valid or unconstItutIonal without regard to whether any portion of
the ordinance would be subsequently declared invalId or uncon-
stitutional.

SECTION 7. The }layor shall sIgn and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The CIty Clerk
shall cause the same to be publIshed once in the offIcial news-
paper within fIfteen (15) days after its adoption.
