CORPORATING UNIFOffi1 BUSINESS CODE
APPENDIX CHAPTER 11, COVERED MALL
BUILDINGS, AS l'tODIFIED HARcn 13,

INTO SECTION 8103 OF THE SANTA MONICA

QHEREAS, Section 8103 of the Santa Mon1ca Municlpal Code
adopts certaln docUIT\ents ent1t1ed "Unl.form BUl.lding Code, 1979
Edition" end "Unlforrn BU11dlng Code Standards, 1976 Edl.tlon",
adopted by the Internatlonal Conference of BUSlness offlclals,
together wlth amendments, deletl.ons or modlficatlons thereto,
as the Sa-lta r1onl.ca uBullding Codeu; and
WHEREAS, the BUllding and Safety COIDmlSS10n of the Clty
of Santa Monlca, on r~rch 13, 1978, and May 16, 1979, approved
a docUNent proposed as Appendix Chapter 11 to the 1976 Unlform
Bu~lding Code, as Modified, as an equlvalent deslgn safety
standard to the Uniform Build~ng Code govern~ng covered mall
bU1ldings, the Clty Council of the Clty of Santa Monlca ordalns
as follows:
SECTION 1. Sectlon 8103 of the Santa Monica Munlclpal
Code 1S amended to read as follows:
"Those certa~n docurrtents ent~tled "Unlt'orm
BUllding Code, 1976 Edition", and "Uniform
BUllding Code Standards, 1976 Cditlon", adopted
by the Internatlonal Conference of Building
Offlcials, together with that certain document
ent~tled "Draft Un1forrn Buildlng Code Appendix
Chapter 11, Covered t1.all Buildings", as modifled

by the Santa Mon~ca Build2ng and Safety Commlssion
on March 13, 1978, and r~y 16, 1979, are hereby
adopted as amended, deleted or modified there~n,
as the BU1lding Code of the Clty of Santa Monlca,
and shall be referred to, together wlth such arnend-
ments, deletions or modiflcatlons thereto, as the
t1Bul1dlng Code".
SECTION 2. Any provlslons of the Santa Monica Munlclpal
Code, or appendices thereto lnconslstent herewith, to the extent
of such lnconslstencies and no further are, hereby repealed
or modlfled to that extent necessary to effect the provlsions
of thlS ordinance.
SEC~ION 3. If any section, subsectlon, sentence, clause
or phrase of thlS ordinance is for any reason held to be
invalid or unconstitutional by a decls10n of any court of
competent ]urlsdictlon, such declslon shall not affect the
valldlty of the re~alning portlons of the ordlnance. The Clty
Counell hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance
and each and every section, subsectlon, sentence, clause or
phrase not declared lnvalld or unconstltutlonal without regard
to whether any portlon of the ordlnance would be subsequently
declared inval~d or unconst1tutlonal.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall slgn and the Clty Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk
shall cause the same to be publlshed once in the offlclal
newspaper wlthln fifteen (15) days after its adoption. The
ordinance shall become effectlve after thlrty (30) days
from its adoptlon.
