AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING
SECTION 3392(F) OF THE SANTA MONICA
MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO PARKING
METER RATES, AND PROVIDING THAT PARK-
ING METER RATES FOR PARKING 1,lliTER ZONES
"D" AND "E" MAY BE SET BY RESOLUTION.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ORDAINS
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l. Sectlon 3392 (F) of the Santa Monica
Munlclpal Code lS amended to read as follows:
"Parking or standing a vehlcle ln a
deslgnated space ln parking meter zones
liD" or "E" shall be lawful for one (l)
hour upon the deposlt of twenty cents
(.20) ln COln and for an additlonal
hour for each twenty cents ln coin de-
posited ln addltlon thereto, provlded,
however, that COlns shall not be deposlted
so that the unelapsed parking time shall
exceed twelve (12) hours."
SECTION 2. Henceforth, the parking meter rate for
zones "D" and "E" may be changed by resolution of the Parklng
Authority or the Clty Council, as appropriate.
SECTION 3. If any sectlon, subsection, sentence,
clause or phrase of thlS ordinance lS for any reason held to
be lnvalld or unconstltutlonal by a decls10n of any court of
competent ]urisdictlon, such decis10n shall not affect the

validity of the remalning portlons of the ordinance. The Clty
Councll hereby declares that lt would have passed thlS ordinance
and each and every section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase not declared lnvalld or unconstltutional without regard
to whether any port1on of the ordlnance would be subsequently
declared lnvalid or unconstltutlonal.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of thlS ordlnance. The Clty Clerk
shall cause the same to be publlshed once ln the offlclal news-
paper withln fifteen (l5) days after ltS adoptlon. The ordlnance
shall become effectlve after thiry (30) days from lts adoption.
