AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES AND LEVYING
TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1977,
FOR THE GENERAL CITY AND FOR THE PARKING AND
BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN
AS FOllOWS:

For the purpose of raising the sums of money necessary
to be raised by taxat10n upon the taxable property of the City of Santa Monica as
a revenue to carryon the various departments of said City for the fiscal year
beg1nning July 1. 1977. the rates of taxes for the City of Santa Monica hereby
are fixed and taxes are hereby levied on all taxable property in said City for
the fiscal year beginning July 1. 1977. in the number of cents upon each One
Hundred Dollars of assessed value of property as assessed by the County Assessor
and equalized by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles. and for
the several funds and purposes set forth in the following table. The taxes
levied upon property 1n said City hereinafter described and designated as District
Number 1 are at the rates set Oppos1te the designations of the respective funds.
District Number 1:
All that portion of the City of Santa Monica
1ncluded within the boundaries of the corporate lim1ts of said City.

SECTION 2.
For the purpose of ralsing the sums of money necessary
to be raised by an ad valorem tax upon all of the land and improvements (but
excluding personal property) in the Parking and Business Improvement Area in
addltion to the taxes levied in Taxation Distrlct Number 1, a tax is levled at
the rate of $~ upon each $100.00 of assessed value of the property as
assessed by the County Assessor and equalized by the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Los Angeles. Said Parking and Business Improvement Area has an
assessed valuation of $ 11,208,565 and is described as follows:
"Bounded on the northeasterly side by the center
line of 4th Court, the southeasterly side by the
center line of Broadway, the southwesterly side
by the center line of 1st Court, and the north-
westerly side by the center of Wilshire Boulevard,
all in the City of Santa Monci a. "
SECTION 3.
If any section, subsection. sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutlonal by a
declsion of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect
the validlty of the remaining portions of the ordinance. The City Council here-
by declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each section, subsection,
clause or phrase hereof, irrespectlve of the fact that anyone or more sections,
subsections, clauses or phrases be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4.
The Mayor Shall sign and the City Clerk Shall attest
to the passage of this ordinace. The City Clerk shall cause the same to be
published once in the official newspaper within fifteen (15) days after its
adoption. This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption pursuant to Section 619
of the Charter of the City of Santa Monica.
