AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AMENDING ARTICLE VI, CHAPTER 4
SECTION 6430 OF THE SANTA MONICA
CODE, PERTAINING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT
OF TAXICAB RATES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Article VI, Chapter 4, Section 6430
of the Santa Monlca Municlpal Code lS hereby amended to read
as follows:
"Section 6430. Maximum Charge.
No person shall charge, collect, demand,
recelve, or arrange for any compensatlon
for taxicab serVlce or the servlce of any
automoblle for hlre ln the Clty used for
the conveyance of passengers, any amount,
rate, or compensatlon greater than the
charges or rates regulated by the Clty
Councll and establlshed, from time-to-time,
by resolutlon of the Clty Councll.
No rate shall be placed in effect,
charged, demanded or collected for hlre or
taxlcab serV1ce untll the Clty Council,
after hearlng upon its own motlon, or upon
appllcatlon, or upon complalnt, shall have
found and determlned sald rate to be just,
reasonable, nondiscrlminatory, nonpreferential,
nor otherwlse In vlolatlon of any provlSlon
hereln contalned or any provlslon of law;
