O1058 j 7 .;,:, '. -. ,< " ORDINANCE NO. l058(CCS) (City Council Serles) AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA REQUESTING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION TO ESTABLISH THE SEPARATION DISTANCE BETWEEN DEPARTING PLANES AT 3,500 FEET. WHEREAS, the separation dlstance between depart- ing planes lS presently established at 3,000 feet; and WHEREAS, this has, on occasion, resulted in faster planes overtaklng slower planes on departure, thus causlng a veer to the right over the residential Sunset Park area; and WHEREAS, an lncrease of 500 feet in the separa- tion dlstance between departing planes wl11 tend to reduce the occurrence of planes forced to fly over sald Sunset Park reSldentlal area, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the United States of America and the Federal Aviatlon Administratlon are requested and urged to establish a separatlon dlstance of 3,500 feet between aircraft departlng from the Santa Monlca Munlclpal Alrport. SECTION 2. The Mayor shall slgn and the Clty Clerk shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk shall cause the same to be published once in the offlcial news- paper wlthin fifteen (15) days after lts adoption.
