AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING
SECTION 3347A OF THE Sili'JTA MONICA
MUNICIPAL CODE, DESIGNATING THE
PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT ON CERTAIN
STREETS PURSUANT TO SPEED ZONE
SURVEY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Sfu~TA MONICA DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Sect~on 3347A of the Santa r1on~ca
Mun~cipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sect~on 3347A. !ncreas~ng State S~eed L~mits
In Certain Zones. It ~s hereby determined upon the basis of
an engineer~ng and traffic survey that the speed perm~tted by
State law upon the fo1low~ng streets, or port~ons thereof, ~s
less than is necessary for safe operat~on of vehicles thereon
by reason of the preva1ling speeds as determined by traffic
engineering measurements thereupon, accidents records, and h~gh-
way traff~c and roads~de cond~t~ons, and ~t ~s hereby declared
that the pr~ma face speed 11mit, as ~ndicated by and pursuant
to sa~d engLneer1ng and traffic survey pursuant to Sect~on
627 of the Cal~forn~a Vehicle Code, shall be as hereinafter set
forth on those streets or portions of streets herein des1gnated
at the t~rnes spec~f1ed when s1gns are erected g1v~ng notice
thereof:
(1) 45 m~les per hour:
a. Olympic Boulevard from 26th Street
to Cent1nela Avenue (north leg).

SECTION 2. Any provision of the Santa Monica
Mun1clpal Code or appendlces thereto lnconSlstent herewlth, to
the extent of such lnconslstencies and no further, are hereby
repealed or modlfied to that extent necessary to effect the
provlsions of this ordlnance.
SECTION 3. If any sectlon, subsection, sentence,
clause or phrase of this ordlnance 1S for any reason held to be
invalid or unconstltutional by a declsion of any court of
competent jurlsdlctlon, such decision shall not affect the validity
of the remalning portions of the ordinance. The Clty Council
hereby declares that it would have passed this ordlnance and
each and every sect~on, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase
not declared ~nvalid or unconstltutional without regard to whether
any portlon of the ordlnance would be subsequently declared invalld
or unconst~tutlonal.

SECTION 4. The Mayor shall s~gn and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ord~nance. The City Clerk
shall cause the same to be published once in the offic~al news-
paper within f~fteen (15) days after its adoption. The ord~nance
shall become effective after thirty (30) days from its adopt~on.
